THE ELEMENT RUG

PRODUCED BY CHRISTOPHER FARR

The Element Rug Collection is an experiment of colour and contrast, playing with the connection between asymmetry and structure, construction and composition, and the dynamic energies, tensions and contrasts inherent in colour.

Inspired by the artists and architects of the De Stijl movement, characterised by geometric abstraction and balance achieved through the use of horizontal and vertical lines, The Element Rug Collection celebrates the interplay of colour and contrast to create energy within a strict linear, asymmetrical border design.

Studio Peake has a long-standing relationship with Christopher Farr, expert producers of custom rugs, on projects for their interior design clients, so it was exciting to work together to develop a new product to add to The Workshop by Studio Peake collection.

CRAFTSMANSHIP & MATERIALS

The Element Rug Collection is made in Afghanistan, a region known for its heritage craft skills, in Ghazni wool, long prized for rug making. With an inherent durability, high lanolin content and natural stain resistance, Ghazni wool comes from sheep bred for centuries that have been shepherded specifically for the quality of their wool. Working with their trusted network and weaving communities, the rugs are hand spun, from hand dyed wool, which give a movement and interest to the finish.

Each and every stage of the production process is independently audited by Christopher Farr’s fair trade partners Turquoise Mountain, founded by King Charles III, and Label STEP.

The result is a structured design with a beautiful texture and quality.

All rugs are made to order and with custom options available; size, colour and material.
